Whether you are shopping for a performance computer based on the AMD or Intel processor, in both cases you will currently need dual channel memory. But, things will be evolving soon seeing Intel has adopted the new DDR2 specification. As for AMD, well, by doing a little research and a couple of phone calls, it looks like DCDDR400 will still remain the AMD standard for quite some time.

If you are going to hold off from purchasing a DDR2 based Intel system and settle with a Canterwood or Springdale based motherboard from Intel, or perhaps a Athlon64/XP nForce2(3) from AMD, you will be in the market for some excellent memory from a variety of manufacturers.
