PRODUCT PICTORIAL AND WALKTHROUGH

Corsair stays with the matte black finish common to their other power supply offerings but has gone with blue graphics for the new HX series. The 140mm double ball bearing cooling fan lives under a black fan guard featuring the Corsair logo and can intelligently throttle fan speed according to temperature. This feature, along with the 80 PLUS Gold rating should translate into a quiet and reliable with a long lifespan. The heavy-duty wall power cord should be more than up to the task given its 16 ga. wire and 300W rating.

Here's the obligatory label shot. It gives some abbreviated specifications for the 750HX, not the least of which is the 744W rating of the single +12V rail. This is better than any PSU in its class, and at first glance would seem to be too good to be true. Corsair manages this feat by utilizing advanced DC-to-DC circuitry for the +5V and +3.3V rails to offload that job from the +12V circuit, which improves efficiency as well.

Out back, the 750HX is rather conventional with no need for a voltage switch as that task is handled internally. Honeycomb mesh provides more than enough ventilation for the modest airflow this highly efficient unit will require.

The 750HX is a modular PSU and here are the connectors. The blue sockets are for the graphics cables while the black sockets support the peripheral cabling. The native cables are sleeved in a black mesh material and are protected by a black plastic grommet. The shiny sticker lists a patent license number of 7,133,293 which, after some net research, seem to indicate that Corsair (or their manufacturer) is using some patented technology from Ultra Products (maybe the modular cables? Stay tuned.)
