He also likes the finish. Coolmax refers to this treatment as “hairline” but I think “brushed” is both a more descriptive and less hirsute characterization. The gold-colored fan grills and raised Coolmax logo give this big bruiser a distinctive look. Too bad one is unlikely to be able to appreciate these qualities once it's installed.

Also in the box are a very informative manual and a box of modular cables. Looks like there's also a 1350W version of this PSU on the horizon.

This is a big unit! ATX spec controls the other dimensions, but this PSU is 220mm (over 8.5 inches) long. Check your case space before you invest in this baby. To be fair, there are several power supplies out there that are at least this long, so this isn't really a detriment.

The compulsory label shot shows some abbreviated specs and the various approval certifications. There's no UL number in evidence, so I wasn't able to see who actually manufactured this PSU.

A power switch and wall cord receptacle share space on the rear of the unit with a fan. Unlike many PSUs these days, the CUQ-1200B uses a dual fan cooling system consisting of a 13.5mm intake and an 80mm exhaust fan. The intake fan is of conventional design, but…
