CONCLUSIONS AND AFTERTHOUGHTS

If, as they say, silence is golden, then Cooler Master chose the wrong color for their Sileo 500 computer case. As this review shows, the Sileo is clearly up to the task of keeping even the most demanding hardware comfortably cool, and doing it at near silence. After playing with this chassis for a week or so, I can assure you it would be very easy to build a silent machine using this chassis and some carefully chosen mainstream hardware.

Cooler Master's Sileo 500 brings some other nice features and amenities to the table as well. Classic good looks are the first thing you're likely to notice about the Sileo. A well designed and appointed front IO panel ads to the overall convenience of the chassis and the control button/lighting feature is tasteful and well executed. The finish is top-notch and the brushed aluminum accents on the front bezel are a nice touch. While the interior is a bit cramped, tool-free features abound and they work well. A lack of cable management features detracts a bit from the otherwise functional interior, but this can be overcome with some forethought and creativity. Another nice feature is the price. Widely available online for around $80 US, this is a very good value for a niche market chassis with these features and amenities.

In the final analysis, Cooler Master has done a good job of defining their target market and providing a case that addresses the needs of that niche market. I you're in the market for a chassis with aggressive acoustic features, the Sileo 500 is a great choice and brings a lot of other nice features along with it. Mr. Bones likes it, and I like it ,too.

Pros:

- Quiet!
- Good cooling
- Classic good looks
- Aluminum accents on the bezel
- Tool-free interior
- Very good value

Cons:
