PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONS AND FEATURES
The specifications available from Cooler Master are a bit thin, but you can see that the socket support is excellent, with all modern platforms covered. For the metrically challenged among us, the GeminII measures 6.9 X 4.9 X 3.2 inches without any cooling fans. Weighing in at almost two pounds, the GeminII is no lightweight either. The thermal resistance figure is very promising, but the noise level will vary with the choice of fans used, as no fans are included.
Processor support is excellent with the latest CPUs included in the application charts.
Compatible with AMD X2 Dual Core, Intel Core 2 Duo and Core 2 Extreme.
Complete cooling solution cools CPU and its surrounding components (motherboard, memory, VRM, chipset and VGA cards)
Fan bracket design for mounting two 120 mm fan cools mainboard.
Flexible bracket design provides interference-free installation
Copper base with 6 heat pipes design creates superior cooling performance
Huge aluminum fin design for excellent heat dissipation.
The somewhat sparse feature list (from Cooler Master's website,) mentions the bracket for mounting two 120mm fans. As we'll see a bit later, the bracket can be adjusted to provide clearance and direct airflow to cool other motherboard components.
Unsurprisingly, the GeminII comes in a big box and even has a carry handle to help users lug the thing home. The window shows off the heatpipe arrangement to good effect and there are plenty of graphics on the back and sides touting the GeminII's specifications and features.
Inside the carton, the cooler is well protected in a stiff plastic clamshell container while a separate cardboard box holds the mounting hardware and accessories.
Along with the various mounting hardware, Cooler Master includes a syringe of thermal paste and a multi-language installation guide. We'll go over the mounting solutions in more detail later, but they look very robust and the guide has clear, illustrated instructions to make installation as painless as possible on any compatible motherboard. (We'll also discuss motherboard compatibility a bit later.)
