PRODUCT PICTORIAL AND WALKTHROUGH

Let's begin by looking at size comparisons.

The CF900, on the right, is really quite compact for an aftermarket cooler, being just a shade taller that the OEM Intel solution on the left.

It also compares favorably with the Intel cooler when viewed from the top. The Apack's 92mm fan and heatpipes add to the overall size a bit, however a cooler this size should be a boon to users looking to upgrade the OEM cooler and having limited space requirements.

Functionally, the fan is one of the most interesting features of the CF900. Crystal clear materials and an unconventional shape combine to give the cooler a distinctive look, but the real attraction is not readily apparent.

The two black wires entering the fin area of the heatsink connect to a thermistor and allow the fan to regulate its speed from 900 RPM to a maximum of 2300 RPM according to the temperature measured among the fins.

This graphic illustrates how fan speed responds to heat in the CF900. Keep in mind that the fan responds to heat monitored in the heatsink fins, not the CPU core temperature. While the spelling leaves something to be desired, you get the idea. As we'll see later, this feature yields some surprising results.
