WHAT IS CES?

The International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is the world's largest annual tradeshow for consumer technology and America's largest annual tradeshow of any kind.

Verified registrants representing the United States, Canada, Mexico and more than 130 other countries include manufacturers, retailers, content providers and creators, broadband developers, wireless carriers, cable and satellite TV providers, installers, engineers, corporate buyers, government leaders, financial analysts and the media from around the world.

The International CES is the industry's largest educational forum to help companies expand their businesses and understand new technology. Approximately 200 conferences and more than 600 expert speakers encompass International CES conferences, Industry Insiders and SuperSessions to discuss hot industry trends and topics.

Keynote presentations feature executives from the world's largest and most successful companies and result in remarkable media coverage for the speakers. CEOs rank the CES as one of their top 10 most desired speaking opportunities, according to a 2005 Burson-Marsteller Most Valued Podium survey. Check CESweb.org in September for the complete conference schedule.

The International CES features products—and the companies that create them—from many different consumer technology markets. The show floor is organized by color-coded zones, allowing attendees to easily find each exhibitor as they navigate through 1.8 million net square feet of exhibit space.

The first CES took place in New York City in June of 1967 with 200 exhibitors and 17,500 attendees. Since then, CES has grown more than eleven-fold. Nearly 2,700 exhibitors, filling 1.6 million net square feet of exhibit space, showcased their latest products and services to more than 140,000 attendees at the 2006 International CES.

WHY IS TWEAKNEWS AT CES?

First and foremost, we at Tweaknews love anything to do with the latest technology coming onto the consumer market. CES essentially drops you directly into one of the highest concentrations of consumer technology in the world and some, if not most of the important product launches are done here. It is essentially a hub for every important manufacturer to display their product to prospective buyers and to the media. Every manufacturer you know that makes your home electronics and your computer hardware will be represented here.

CES DAY 3 COVERAGE

Although we were tired and our feet still sore from the show floor, we forced ourselves back into the consumer hurricane here at CES 2007 in Las Vegas. Today as you will see was a very productive day with lots of contacts made and a lot of booths visited.

Just remember this is the hand picked parts of the day we are posting. This brief run through doesn't represent everything that is done during the whole day. The booths you see in a day's coverage represents about 1/8th of what we actually do on the show floor and in private meetings. We are striving to get more contacts in order to get more product for us to review for you, the respected reader of Tweaknews.

LG ELECTRONICS

LG Electronics has done an excellent job pumping up the brand name in recent years and because of their hard work are being considered one of the premier brands in consumer electronics. Not too many years ago LG was named Goldstar and if anyone owned a Goldstar product, you knew they were not built to last. Even when they greatly improved their product quality, they were still hampered by a tarnished and unrespected brand name. LG Electronics was born and a fresh start was made.

LG has a extremely broad product range covering almost every single electronic component you can install in your livingroom and/or your entire home. Their booth was well organized, enormous and was targeted towards TV and computer monitor technology rather than computerized home appliances which they are heavily interested in as well. As seen above, this beauty caught my eye and forced me to take a shot. How does a full 100 inches of HD 1080P LCD TV sound to you. Words can't describe how good the picture quality is. Well, maybe one word......stunning.

SAMSUNG

Samsung had an enormous presence at the 2007 CES. From what I have counted, there was at least seven different company divisions which were each represented by a whole staff of public relation personnel.

Of course, Samsung had their large 102 inch HD LCD TV out on full display although it was slightly overshadowed by Sharp's booth next door which had a 1080P 108 inch LCD TV on display. Now when you get over 100 inches, I really don't think and extra 5-10 inches is even noticeable unless if you had them side by side. But it was sure nice to stand and watch them all display some HD media.

Other than large LCD TVs, Samsung had almost all electronic products represented. From LCD monitors to cell phone technology, entering the Samsung booth would definite kill some time if you wanted to take it all in. Seeing we were on a tight schedule, we had to touch base on a couple products and move along.
