DIGITAL EXPERIENCE (cont'd)

BARNES & NOBLE

Barnes and Noble was also on hand to show off their wireless reading device called the Nook. This competitor to the popular Amazon Kindle utilizes the same E-ink technology as well as the ability to download books directly to the reader without using a computer.

As you can see, there is also a second (color) screen at the bottom of the device. This is a touch screen that allows the user to scroll through books and click on one they would like to sample or buy, and it can also be used to add bookmarks or notes. A brochure on the Nook also states that eBooks can be shared, which is a very useful feature that Kindle users have have not been able to take advantage of.

BUFFALO

Buffalo was on hand to show off their storage solutions including their NAS, external storage and their new USB 3.0 external hard drives. Not only are they releasing a 500gb version, but they have models up to and including 2Tb for immediate sale.

But what if your motherboard is not USB 3.0 capable? If you want to add a couple USB 3.0 ports to your system without having to buy a whole new motherboard, Buffalo Technologies has you covered with their PCI-E USB 3.0 card. Laptop users can also take advantage of this new technology with a notebook version.

VERBATIM

Verbatim had a wide variety of products to show off including flash media, DVD-R's, and USB mice. Their “Tuff ‘N Tiny” 16GB USB drive is the smallest one I have ever seen and actually the smallest in the world – it really is amazing how tiny these handy devices have become.

And that wraps up the second day of your CES 2010 coverage and will be again hitting the pavement hard to get your more coverage for Day 3 of our adventure. Stay tuned.
