PRODUCT INTRODUCTION
With literally thousands of computer cases on the market
these days, choosing the right one for a particular application has
become a daunting task, especially for the novice builder. Just a very
few years ago, cases could fairly easily be put into one of two categories:
inexpensive, plain jane, no-frills boxes or more expensive, full featured
cases designed for better cooling and "user friendly" installation.
Enter the computer modder. These individuals began to
modify their cases and other hardware to enhance utility and appearance.
Predictably, manufacturers saw a niche developing and began incorporating
some of these innovative designs into their products. As a result, "pre-modded"
cases hit the market with side windows, lights, colors and many other
enhancements. This explosion of new designs served to blur the distinction
between high- and low-end cases and consequently made choice more difficult.
In this review, we'll be looking at the Athentech A605
ATX mid-tower case. Available at many online retailers for around $50
USD, this case is solidly in the mid-price range, but as we all know,
price and value are two different things. Let's take a hard look, and
see what the A605 delivers.
