ASUS XONAR DS 7.1 SOUND CARD INTRODUCTION

If you listen to music, watch videos or play games on your PC (and who doesn't these days), it's not a bad idea to add a good sound card to your system. While onboard sound is generally okay, the difference between it and using a sound card is something that deserves to be heard.

The last time Tweaknews reviewed an Asus sound card, it was the high-end Xonar Essence STX (check out the review HERE ). It proved to be a fantastic card in every way, but at a price of nearly $200 US it's not the most affordable way to upgrade your PC's sound. For the more budget conscious consumer, Asus has another offering in the Xonar line - the Xonar DS PCI sound card. It features 7.1 channel sound, DTS support, and 192 KHz/24-bit audio playback all at a budget price. How much of an improvement will it be over onboard audio? I'm about to find out. Continue on to page 2 for more details.
