ASUS DRW-24B3LT SATA DVD-RW DRIVE INTRODUCTION
Even though Blu-Ray is gaining momentum in the optical drive market, there's still a high demand for DVD-RW drives. Whether it's for a new build or to simply replace an existing drive, finding a quality product is important because no one wants to end up with a stack of coasters. Asus is well known for making everything from motherboards to sound cards to routers, and they have a good reputation with optical drives too - after reviewing a few of their offerings I have been left impressed with the overall performance and reliability.
The last Asus DVD-RW drive tested here at Tweaknews was the DRW-24B1ST (check out that review HERE). It proved to be an excellent performer in terms of both read and write speeds, and burn quality was consistently reliable. The $20 price tag was easy to take also. Today I have a new Asus DVD-RW drive for review with very similar specs - the DRW-24B3LT. This new model adds in Lightscribe support for a few bucks more and just like other products in Asus' optical drive lineup, it promises fast, quiet operation and reliable burns. Turn the page and follow along as I test it out.
