PRODUCT PICTORIAL AND WALKTHROUGH

The MX-1 has a very sleek, stylish look. The brushed aluminum panels and carbon-glass composite body contrast nicely with the glossy black plastic stand and trim. Not content with a simple box design, Antec has given the MX-1 a pleasing rounded look that avoids straight lines in favor of gentle curves. The louvered area at the top rear provides air intake for the cooling fan and is tastefully executed as well.

Looking at the bottom surface, rubber feet at each corner provide stability for the unit as well as protection for your furniture. A feature that I really like is that, unlike most enclosures, removing a single screw allows the MX-1 to be opened for installation or removal of the HDD.

The rear of the MX-1 features a recessed connectivity panel that includes (from left to right) the power, USB and eSATA sockets and a power switch. The louvered area below the panel provides exhaust openings for the cooling system.

This illustration, from the Antec website, gives you a little better idea of the cooling scheme. The design draws air around all sides of the drive, assuring a cool environment for your hard working hard drive.

The eSATA bracket is simplicity itself. Just plug the interior cable into an available motherboard SATA port, secure the bracket to the case, plug in the eSATA cable and you’re good to go. The USB and power cables are fairly unremarkable and I won’t bore you with their details here. Let’s get on to the installation.
