ANTEC DF-85 DARK FLEET INTRODUCTION

After over 25 years in the PC aftermarket, one would expect Antec to have it going on. They do. If you're a PC enthusiast, you've almost certainly heard of Antec, and I suspect many of you have used their products. Antec is one of the oldest and most respected names in the PC aftermarket and quality and performance have always been a constant with Antec products. However, the styling and appearance of their products have been, shall we say, somewhat conservative. In the last few years, however, they've come out with some cases that have a little more pizzazz, without compromising performance. Back in 2006, we had the opportunity to review their Nine Hundred gaming case (see the Tweaknews review HERE) and were very impressed with the cooling and overall quality. The same goes for the Twelve Hundred full tower (see the Tweaknews review HERE.) Antec has upped the ante again and they've sent along an example of their new DF-85 chassis for evaluation in the Tweaknews lab. This is the full-tower chassis from Antec's Dark Fleet series and has an impressive look and a very interesting feature set. Follow along as we examine the Dark Fleet DF-85. There's a lot to like here, so let's get to it.

ANTEC CORPORATE PROFILE

The year was 1986. Starbucks had only a few stores. Don Johnson was actually cool. The average PC had less memory than today's cellphones. And in Fremont, California, a little company named Antec was born. Antec's first employees never imagined that their upstart firm would rise to the very top of the high-performance computer components industry. But rise it did. And rather swiftly, too.

We're headquartered in Fremont, California, with additional offices in the Netherlands, Europe. We've also established distribution partnerships throughout Australia and Southeast Asia. So you'll find Antec products in over 25 countries. But no matter how large we grow, we'll never forget our mission: to give you the power you need to create the computer you really want. That's the Antec way. That's the Power of You.
