To keep monitor dimensions to a minimum Samsung took both digital signal and power connections and moved them to a separate dongle. I found this feature allowed for an even easier setup experience seeing I didn't have to contort myself around the monitor to hook everything up. A definite step in the right direction. I know this is only a minor part of this monitor, but I hope they continue using this feature on all their upcoming displays.
Moving on to the monitor base, the actual base will stay in place and the center portion will allow you to turn the monitor 90 degrees to the left or the right. One finger's worth of pressure is all that is needed to move the monitor to your desired position. The base itself is extremely stable and well planted and you won't have to worry about the base itself trying to break loose to join the center portion during the rotation. The power button is incorporated into the base and can be seen in the above photo. It is clear when the monitor is off and will glow blue when the monitor is turned on.
The 970P incorporates Samsung's "Flexible Hinge" design which facilitates this monitor to turn from your average static monitor with relatively limited orientation ability to a monitor that could easily be used in several non-conventional working environments. Let me show you what I mean.
With the three hinge design, the spatial limitations of this monitor are nonexistent. Whether your working or home environment requires a different viewing angle, this monitor will have you covered. The mechanism is butter smooth and I like the fact that I can adjust the height with one finger and it will still keep the same viewing angle. *Cue cheesy infomercial music*.... But wait...there's more.
If your work environment has you viewing the monitor from above, this monitor can easily fold itself flat for vertical viewing. You always have options with this monitor.
