PRODUCT INTRODUCTION
When it comes to videocard reviews, the reader is more
often then not faced with an editorial on a top of the line enthusiast
or upper mainstream sample focused towards the gamer or computer enthusiast.
One portion of the hardware market that is unfortunately lacking is
the lower end of the mainstream or budget market which actually makes
up more of today's market.
Although a lot of people do like to see just how blistering
fast the new breed of videocards pump out frames per second, some people
are looking for just an ordinary videocard with excellent two dimensional
quality and clarity along with minor gaming ability and fully functional
VIVO capabilities. Some enthusiasts like to have a fast system but sometimes
gaming is not always a primary concern.
To cover a rather ignored sector in the reviewing community,
I will be reviewing Hightech's Radeon 9200SE offering that may not have
the fastest benchmarking results on the market, but as I have said before,
it was never meant to be a screamer. The Radeon 9200SE VPU represents
the lowest current tier in DX8.1 gaming chipsets released by ATI. With
a hindered 64bit memory interface coupled with slower ram to keep costs
down to a minimum, the 9200SE is targeted towards the consumer that
wants basic gaming capabilities, but still needs all the picture quality
associated with ATI's enthusiast level video processing units.
