PRODUCT SOFTWARE INSTALL
Software setup was incredibly easy and all that is needed is to slip the included CD-ROM into your computer and allow the autoplay feature to start up. All that has to be done is pick your appropriate language and the software and drivers will be automatically installed. If you are going to be be using the USB port for the printer connection, make sure you DON'T have the USB cable connected when you install the software. After the software installation is done, then connect the cable and let Windows install your drivers.
Once the software is installed, you will have full software control of the scanner and the printer. All other functions can be accessed and used without the aid of a computer.
*Just as a side note: You do not necessarily have to have a computer to use this printer. If the primary purpose is to be a fax machine and photocopier, this unit can be used on its own.*
PRODUCT PICTORIAL & WALKTHROUGH
To get you acquainted more with this particular model, let's take a virtual walk through some of the features you can enjoy with your new purchase.
As stated earlier, Samsung has gladly walked away from bulky square tank printer of the past and adopted a more stylish approach to printer design. Gladly, the updated style and engineering has brought forth a smaller overall footprint with no reduction in features, strength or quality.
Incorporated into the top front keypanel is a 2.5" x 0.5" monochrome LCD display to aid in setting up the features and to display the current function being undertaken.
Two buttons you should really pay attention to in order to save you some money is the two "Save" buttons on the far right of the control key panel. "Toner Saver" extends the life of the toner cartridge by 40%, although it states that it reduces the printing quality. As a little addition, I found that the quality on "toner save" to be better than the normal quality on an inkjet printer and a person wouldn't really notice the difference. "Toll Save" feature which will stop a fax if there isn't a fax machine to receive the transmission on the other end of the line which will save you some potential long distance charges when an answering machine picks up.
