PRODUCT COMPOSITION

One thing I have to note here is how fast LCD monitor prices are dropping. Last year (2002), I reviewed the Samsung Syncmaster 151MP which is only a 15 inch model and it was going for about US$800 when released. The 172MP is two inches bigger and is being released at an affordable price of around US$700 in 2003. If this trend continues, LCD monitors will be as cheap as their older CRT equivalents in about 3-4 years.

Getting back on track, here is what you get with this product.

As always, you will receive the warranty/registration papers and a driver CD with an included software color enhancement program to get every pixel of vibrant color from your new monitor.

Also included is an analog video signal cable, an audio patch cord, a power cord and transformer and a remote control with batteries.

To handle the TV capabilities, Samsung includes a module that can be attached to the monitor if you want TV, but it's not a necessity for normal monitor operation.

Last, but never least is the actual monitor. The actual monitor shell has not changed at all from the 2002 171MP equivalent model. Most refinements have been improved internally with updated technology.
