PRODUCT INTRODUCTION
It's a fact that all monitor manufacturers have had to swallow like cheap
cough medicine. CRT monitors consist of dated, inferior technology that
is starting to be ignored for the power-efficient vibrant picture quality
of the LCD monitor. To date, CRT monitors have been a big seller and the
manufacturing process has been so refined that monitor manufacturers are
making a financial windfall. Since the introduction of LCD monitors into
the mainstream consumer market, companies are being forced to walk away
from their comfortable CRT manufacturing process to develop, refine and
create an LCD monitor line for the future. Any monitor company that doesn't
do this WILL fail and become extinct within the next 5 years. Who will
win the battle? I'm glad to say the consumer for once. The popularity
of the LCD monitor is by far one of the booming sectors of the computer
peripheral genres and competition is growing. With the inevitable result
being affordable high quality LCD monitors, I am humbled to sit back in
my recliner and let the competition begin.
Today I will be reviewing the Samsung SyncMaster 172MP which is more
or less a refined 2003 model example of the 171MP released in 2002. They
are pretty well exactly alike other than some internal technology improvements
like an increased viewing angle and picture quality. Well, let's not spoil
the review by letting the cat out of the bag now.
