Hey there,
great site! Does anyone have suggestions for the best mb and ram to co a p4 2.4c 800fsb?
Looking forward to joining the ever growing ranks of overclockers out there when I do my new build but need some advice to make sure I end up with the best possible config.
Enermax 350w PSU (carry over)
P2 2.4C 800fsb
Asus P4P or P4P Deluxe motherboard
Radeon 8500LE (carry over but eventually up to 9600PRO)
Soundblaster Audigy OEM (carry over)
WD 80GBJB
Here's the kicker. I've researched RAM til I'm blue in the face, according to Asus stat sheets say there are very few brands of PC3200 RAM that work in all 4 slots when running pairs of dual channel memory.

Contrary to Asus the RAM manufactuers claim their RAM works on the board but don't mention whether there will be any trouble if you occupy all 4 slots.
I'm definitely more interested in having a stable, slightly overclock system than setting any new records (would be more than happy to get 2.8-3.0ghz out of it if possible.
I have read about CAS, ECC, registered/unregistered but I'm still unsure as to which ram will offer the best performance. After all my research I'm partial to the OCZ PC-3500 dual channel http://www.ocztechnology.com/products/memory/
and Corsair XMS Twin 512-3700

I know this is very rudimentary but I would appreciate any input and alternate component suggestions that anyone can offer.
THANX, Lord Slug |

Hey bro,
Abit and DFI make some great overclocking boards for the money.
Don't worry about what the companies recommend for their motherboards because they are just marketing for others.
Corsair and Kingston are excellent choices. _________________ Owner & Administrator
