That does indeed suck. We need something to get those kids off of h4x0r-Strike. America's Army is decent, and the Battlefield 1942 demo offers some enjoyment, but they look nothing like Doom III

Yes we do need 2 do somfin', but what can we do, lol
Doom3 will have the graphics from hell so 2 speek and ("levels") that really kick ass, but without multi-player I don't see how it will ever be a " good " or " best ' seller. Multi-player is the only way 2 go because single player died a long time ago :)

I would love for this game to be multiplayer...but sadly I don't think that for most home user's computers, it would be plausible. Plus if you have everyone running around blowing up s*** (like the walls that can be blown up) then everyone has to keep up with the lack of walls and changes in environment everywhere, plus from what i understand in the article, though the graphics would kick ass...it'd be not very fun. Ammunition is limited and it seems that there wont' be many BFGs in the levels...seems as if ID is going for more of a interactive movie than a game. But i guess games could be described as interactive movies...so i dunno...enough with my rambling

I agree: I'd also like to see a multi-player version, but as tebriel pointed out it most likely wouldn't be enjoyable due to all the sprites and data that would have to be drawn in each frame...most likely making the game slower than it already was. Today's top of the line systems barely run the game at decent (most likely less than decent) framerates, so ID will probably wait awhile for the hardware to catch up before they add a multiplayer/other version to the lineup.

Uhh... Do any of you guys actually play the newer multiplayer games?

They do not load all of the data at all times for everyone. This would be pointless and make online gaming an imposibility as games get more and more advanced. Instead, the levels would load up to the point where you can no longer see. Here it would stop loading untill you moved or turned in any direction at which point it would load the new things you are seeing. Yes, things are updated often, but only in your field of view.

Thus, Doom III could have been plausable for an online game, and even a massively multiplayer online game because it would use the formentioned technology as well as the other straegies used by MMORPGs such as: Multiple servers, graphic and detail options etc.

I agree that it is too bad that Doom III will not be multiplayer!

I don't. I mean online gaming is fun and all but I don't want to be dependent on other people in order to have fun playing my games. Yeah there are bots but what's the point if your only goal is killing them. Oh yeah baby... I just killed the computer, whoopity DO!

I love single player FPS. I LOVED me some Halo (on the Xbox) because it had a wonderfully cool storyline to play though. It was so much bette than the single player aspects of Unreal 2003 which really just sorta seems pasted on in order to have something there.

I agree with alexvdll. I've always loved the first person shooters, long before the online multiplayers came along, such as the original Doom. It was a fun game. It's a shame of course that there isn't at least some sort of deathmatch type of online play, but who knows what they may have planned for the future. I'd rather have a great plot in a single player game then just another multiplayer fps. But hey, that's just how I feel about the situation.

Ok don't trust me all on this but i'm pretty sure DOOM3 has multiplayer. Well at least at E3 iD had a multiplayer demo you could play (though it was only 4 players). I havent really read much about Doom lately so plans could have changed, tell me if im wrong.

Doom 3 pisses me off.

Nothing but a bunch of delayed garbage.

No one really cares about its release now.

Now Nathan gots a point, this is been going on for a while. And I myself am sick of the

same old things, why cant they just shut the **ck up(not you guys) until they create and fix a

game for the masses to play without question, such as having or nt having mult. player.

Y don't they just put a little more effort and just add mult. player and anything that us gamers

want, so it doesn't piss people off.

Although HL2 has been delayed, it wasn't its fault.

Code stealing delayed its Christmas release and it should be coming out shortly.

Now on the other hand, DOOM 3 has been talked about delayed, and then delayed again for over a year or more and its just getting downright frustrating.

If any game manufacturers read this,

DON'T HYPE YOUR PRODUCT UNTIL YOU ARE SURE TO RELEASE IT!!!!

Nathan just took the words right out of mouth.

Manufacturers should start looking at the buyers and gamers point of view and thought.
I know some do, BUT MOST DON'T.

Yea and HL2 is a whole other story.

Ill third that. The practice has spread all over the place now though eg. Kill Bill, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars etc. Im not saying it's the same thing ie in the first two cases the movies were finished before they delayed their release which is plain and simple profiteering. I cant help but think thats what the game company's are about there days.
