|
|
Hey, i was wondering if any1 else had a similar prob... when i overclock over 3ghz my soundcard maxes out its volume in windows and i cant reduce the volume, just stays at max for some reason altho i can mute the sound and it stays off, happens with my onboard sound and my live! card so im sure its happened to other ppl, has any1 noticed their sound volume in windows when overclocking?!
I got the IS7 mobo with onboard sound working at the moment since i cant be bothered puten my live! card back in. I overclock the normal way, divider at 5/4, ram timings relaxed, voltages adj. minor and most importantly fixed apg/pci.
I can overclock to 3.2ghz no probs, air cooled, stock intel cooler and everything runs about 45 degrees.
Any help would go along way. _________________ *--->SYSTEM<---*

what OS? what type...upgrade fresh install...etc?
are you disabling the onboard sound when the SB is in?
and you ARE running bios 1.6 correct? some times stability issues with other items can affect another. given that you are OCing...your chipset might just have a glitch.
there have also been a significant number of fixes for the realtek chipset on your board....
v3.49 is the latest.
go here for the latest...
http://fae.abit.com.tw/eng/download/index.htm
since it this does not happen when you are not OCing...there is little or nothing that ABIT will do. |

Yep i run winxp pro, fresh install, i disabled the onboard sound in the bios when the live! card was in, i got the 1.6 bios update, all my other components work fine till i wanna do anything with my comp that requires sound, its there but i just cant turn it down.
If it is a mobo problem then that would explain why no1 else had this prob. Bluddy shame if i cant work it.
cheers for the words guys. _________________ *--->SYSTEM<---*

have you tried turning the volume down on the actual speakers.
I usually always turn the volume up ful blast in windows and use my speaker volume control to control the volume. _________________ Owner & Administrator

and you did get the sound driver...?
it may very well just be a glitch of being OC'd..... a shame as you said, but it happens.
but what gets me is that it presents itself in windows .....that seems like an MS compatibility thing. You get all the service packs? Or see if there is an MS driver update that might be available. |

if he can control the volume through his speaker, he should be ok, I wouldn't dicker around with it or you may get more in trouble. _________________ Owner & Administrator

Could it be possible that it's f'ing up because he hasn't got his AGP/PCI slot locked at 33/66? _________________ __________[(Crayola)]>_____________

he said it was "fixed"....I would take that to mean locked.

that not ifxing the issue....just avoiding it. Not knowing the root leaves room for other things to go wrong. |

I agree with DMW here.
Aside from it possibly causing other issues later...full volume causes unnecessary distortion on your speakers.
Some may not hear it, but its there. Especially with bass. Basically your maxing the soundcards physical sound output which stresses the audio levels which in turn can cause distortion in the form of a fuzzy sound or even a low hiss.
Sounds wierd, but I get picky about things like that and it drives me crazy if it doesn't sound right. Which is why I'm hesitant to use onboard sound on any setup. I need bass/treble control.....hardware control. _________________ TestOC PC

Well i rebuild my computer, put on the latest chipset drivers for the onboard sound and windows inf files, plus took out my tv tuner to see if that would make any difference, but its still the same, im sure its more of a PCI problem since it happens with my live! sound card also. Is there any programs that will tell me what actual speeds my pci and agp are running at, just in case the "fixed agp/pci" setting doesnt actualy keep it in place as intended.
I have sisoft sandra, aida32, cpuz and cpuid programsbut they dont actualy show the pci and agp speeds, unless i missed something. _________________ *--->SYSTEM<---*
