ok, i think i have a problem, but im not sure. i have a 2.4 Ghz P4, msi 648f neo m.b., 1GB DDR400, Gf fx 5600, Tt spark 7 on the cpu, plus 1 fan for intake and 2 in series (done the right way) for exhaust. i just installed the new m.b. (was msi 648 max) and put on the Tt., anyways... before temps ranged from 38-43' C, now its from 48-55' C. i checked both the bios readings and msi fuzzy logic readings and they're both in the same range. i've tried putting the spark 7 on auto-adjust, and full blast (up to 6490 rpm). it didnt change at all. that seems too hot to me. is this a real problem? what can i do to fix it? i used the thermal grease the Tt came with, is that a problem? any help would be greatly appreciated. :-)?

Ok, first off, why are the fans in series, you mean on top of each other blowing out of the case right? If so, don't do that. Install them normally.

You used the black thermal pad it came with or did they provide some white grease?

Also, update the bios to the latest release.

*** btw, i put them in series because i read somewhere online that that will increase the air flow. in the case, that it would push more air out. was this incorrect?

Doing that just causes a lot of turbulence and actually decreases the amount of CFM. It's the same reason that fans are only so wide. Wider blades wouldn't help.

ok, i took out that fan, but im still getting bad readings. in the bios, the system temp was like 32' C, pretty good, but the cpu, according to bios and fuzzy logic, is still 48' C, with minimal pressure on the cpu. what else could be the problem? thanks for the help so far, tho :-)

The white grease isn't helping. Get Arctic Silver 3, remote the white grease, clean chip/heatsink as specified by the AS3 directions, apply AS3, enjoy lower temps :).

BTW, wider fan blades DO help push more CFM. The reason that 2 fans don't work to push more CFM is that they don't turn at exactly the same speed and such, so it creates abnormal wind currents within the fans.

make sure you have all the fans installed in the case.

Having them in series doesn't help push more air out at all, all it does is increse the air pressure. Make sure you have fans installed in all the places in the case.

What voltage do you have your CPU set at?

Try removing the heat sink and re-setting it on the die. Also make sure that you do not have a huge glob of heatsink compound on the die this will lower heat transfer thus raising your core temps. When applying the compound you should spread it over the die with a flat instrument such as an only credit card or something simular. You should have a very thin coating of compount over the die almost as if you can see the writing through the compound. Artic compound will also help with transfering heatand should be applied as described above. Another thing is check your case temp. If the new mobo is disapating more heat into the case the case temp will rise also making the cpu rise in temp. To offset this you should install more case fans.

Soyo motherboards have a temperature monitoring flaw that states the wrong temperature all the time.

Yes, hence my point that there is a hardware bug.

thanks for the advice, i've already ordered sum artic silver 3. but i got a question, would you guys recommend applying as3 to the interface of the gpu-heatsink/fan on my video card? i was thinkin that would help cool the video card better, but im not sure.

also (i know i got lots of questions XD) anyone know of any good programs that monitor graphics cards? (temp, fan speed, clocking, gpu activity, ect)

any help would be greatly appreciated :-)

Doc,

I think you should solve one problem before you start solving others.

Do one and then move on.

What's the best way besides the bios to check your internal mobo and cpu temp. fan speed etc.? I am currently using asus pc probe and it sucks! It alway shuts off after I load it. Then it gives me error messages. It is very unreliable. Any recommendations?

It was never changing and always stuck at 45 celcius.

I know this is incorrect because other boards were seeing a difference in temp.
