how can I achieve the recommended 3-8-4-4 time with my motherboard?
xms3200 2 x 512 (dual channel)

MY MOTHERBOARDS CHIPSET MENU FEATURES THE FOLLOWING
DRAM CAS# LATENCY--3(2.0, 2.5, 3.0)
DRAM RAS# PRECHARGE--4(2, 3, 4)
DRAM RAS# TO CAS# DELAY--4(2, 3, 4)
DRAM PRECHARGE DELAY--8(5, 6 ,7 , 8 )
DRAM BURST LENGTH--8(4, 8 )
DRAM IDLE TIMER--AUTO
DRAM REFRESH RATE--AUTO

You want 3-8-4-4? Its right there in your settings that you listed. I'll put them in bold for you.

Those are the settings people talk about when they say #-#-#-#.

Here's a good information presentation that talks about memory basics and such. Would be a good read for those that don't understand timings, RAS, CAS, RAS to CAS, etc.

So I just looked again and I aready had the right timing. I feel stupid man. (Laugh out loud)

DRAM IDLE TIMER--AUTO
DRAM REFRESH RATE--AUTO
what about these? should I leave them on auto or set them to something specific?
