Well, maybe she's just bitter because I've been using her to shop for new hardware. Never-the-less, my computer is freezing during the bios post screen. I can't enter the bios, either. It seems that other people have had this problem on the same board, (see: http://www.techspot.com/vb/topic27813.html ). I've had the same problem a few weeks back, but it ceased after I unhooked all of my USB and PS/2 peripherals. That seems to have been a coincidence, however, as it's still acting up no matter how much stuff I unhook. I've checked memory 1 stick at a time, unhooked all the drives, taken out all PCI cards, and I even popped out the CMOS battery. Nothing yet.
Ideas?

That's one thing that I haven't tried. Strangely, I just got into the bios (luck, as I wasn't doing anything differently). I haven't gotten in since...
I may try flashing tomorrow. I know the version is current and hasn't been a problem for the most part for the last half decade.
Thanks. _________________ |¤

I would flash back to the bios revision just before the current one you have.
Also, I am wondering if this is a PSU problem. Seeing unplugging USB devices had it fixed for a while could be the indicator if a failure coming. _________________ Owner & Administrator

I flashed the BIOS with no change. Interestingly, however, I think the problem may have been with my OS HD. I've been able to get into the BIOS setup whenever it isn't connected at boot. Strangely, it won't get past that point even if the (former) OS HD is connected but not a boot device. Regardless, I formatted another smaller HD and put an interim load of XP on it for the time being. I guess that is just what happens when s*** gets old (esp HDs). _________________ |¤
