9800pro --vs.-- 9800non-pro --vs-- 9700pro

Ok so currently I'm thinking of just going with the 9800non-pro. (by the way is that the same as the 9800SE)

The reason I'm thinking of going with the 9800 non-pro is because of the obvious price difference.

I'm also assuming a few things, including... that the 9800non-pro is better then the 9700pro, that the 9800 non-pro is not much different then the pro, and that I will not need 256MB Vidcard for the next 1-1.5 years.

So, what does the 9800 pro have over the non-pro, and is the non-pro the same thing as the SE??????????????????

get the 9700pro and save yourself some money.

The difference really isn't that much performance wise.

Trust me, I have both of them.

But what if I could get the 9800SE for the same price as the 9700pro, is the 9700pro still the better deal?

yes, it's a faster card. Better memory and slightly higher clock speeds.

9800SE and 9800np is not the same. SE has only 4 pipelines, and the card performs like a 9600 pro or worse in its natural condition.

I would buy a 9800SE for ~$250 or less, because it can be modded to a 9800 with omega drivers or rivatuner (enabling the extra 4 pipelines) then bring it up to pro speed by increasing clock . Successrate for modding to pro seems pretty high with connect 3D and powercolor cards...

But a sapphire 9800 np might be the best option since it can be modded to pro with just a bios change, and it has already the 8 pipelines activated. It also depends on the price, buy a 9800 Non Pro (not SE) if you can find it for $250-300... if it has good memorys, like sapphire has.
