hi all
i have two 1GB sticks of transcend 800MHz Ram on an Asus M2N-E.
i opened up the case to add some usb ports and a hard drive and had to remove the ram to get them in.
after closing the case i found that when you go to the control panel in XP and look at the system properties, it says "2.00GB of RAM Physical address extension". before it used to say "2GB of 800MHz Ram, dual channel".
i looked in cpu-z to see if the ram is in dual channel, but as soon as i hit the memory tab, cpu-z crashes.
is my ram screwed? can i get it in dual channel again? _________________ AMD64 X2 4200 SAM2, ASUS M2N-E, 4x1GB Transcend 800MHz, 2x Seagate 160GB SATA2 8MB 7200rpm, XFX 7600GT 256MB, LG 18X DVDR, Gigabyte Triton case, Zalman 450W PSU, BENQ 22in widescreen 5ms, Samsung 46" LCD Full HD, Philips Home theater |

| Let's start with the simple stuff. Are you sure you put the sticks back into the same slots they were in originally? CPU-Z crashing is bothersome...what version are you using? |

hey thanks for the help
i had an old version of cpuz, i got the latest one and it doesnt crash now
it says that the ram is in dual channel
identified as pc2 6400 400MHz (not 800Mhz, or is that just 400x2)
not sure if i put them back in the exact same slots, i thought if i just usd the 2 yellows or 2 black slots its the same.
anyway, it seems everything is fine now, but im still not sure why windows system info is not saying "dual channel 800Mhz" anymore. also the old version of cpuz that i was using never crashed on this system before _________________ AMD64 X2 4200 SAM2, ASUS M2N-E, 4x1GB Transcend 800MHz, 2x Seagate 160GB SATA2 8MB 7200rpm, XFX 7600GT 256MB, LG 18X DVDR, Gigabyte Triton case, Zalman 450W PSU, BENQ 22in widescreen 5ms, Samsung 46" LCD Full HD, Philips Home theater |

| Looks like you're good. Your memory is recognized correctly. FYI, when I go to system properties, it makes no mention of dual channel, and I don't think it ever did. Anyway, good luck and glad I could help, tho I didn't do much. |
