Here's my problem,

I've been using a KVM switch for both my computers for the past 2 years. I recently went to upgrade my 2 year old optical wireless mouse keyboard set into a laser mouse wireless keyboard set. The old set seemed to have a limited range, blus the attachment "antenae devices" were bulky.

Somehow, the KVM switch doesn't pick up on the new set.

The KVM switch has the basic old circular keyboard and mouse ports, but I used an extension to connect the old wireless mouse. I am using the same USB extension as the old set for the new set, but I get nothing. The new and old are both Logitech brands. The new set has one USB "antenae" for both mouse and keyboard, couls that be what's throwing it off?

Is there a way to make the new set work, or is my KVM switch out of date for the new equipment? I really don't want to take the new set back unless all attempts fail.

By the way the keyboard & laser mouse do work when I go straight into the computer's USB port, bypassing the KVM switch.

Thanks for any assistance and/or guidance.

sounds like the KVM cant supply the right amount of power to the USB antenna through a ps2 port....

..just my guess.

Just bought a Microsoft laser mouse, same brand as my keyboard. I was able to use the mouse without the receiver it came with by plugging in the mouse attachment of the old receiver that the keyboard uses.

Yes, it's fixed. Now I can toggle my kvm switch between computers and the mouse works for both, - like intended. Thanks.
