I've got a 1993 cadillac 60 special and the amp/headunit died. I was looking at replacing just a few things, but in the end here's what's going in.
1 x Pioneer DEH-p77dh (din and a half, i'ld gladly go for a single din, but that means a dash kit, and a dash kit would ruin the asthetics of the interior)
1 x Power Acoustik SL4-1000
running
-polk db460
-polk db690
-polk db(whateverthehellisinmydoor)
2 x Power Acoustik SL2-1000
first one is for 2 x 10'' woofers each at ~210w RMS, I'll be running them to handle between 70-90hz to 150hz
the other will run 1 x 10" hexagonal subwoofer dual 4ohm voicecoil 500RMS total. I considered two 12s or a 15 but I like the sound of the 10 hex. this will be tuned to handle everything lower.
The system will have 2x 4farad caps (a bit excessive perhaps but everything in the car is electrical so i want to take no chances)
and now, the big question i'm sure, why the woofers?
from all the varying setups i've heard, the 6x9s or 61/2s just can't put out good bass (regardless of brand). The subs bass aren't good for some kind of base sounds (for example guitar, bass, and some drums). So enter the 2 x 10'' woofers which will catch all the guitar and bass.
I've listened to nothing else matters on a setup like this and it was truely incredible.
The parts I managed to get unbeatable prices on, all that's left now is for me get it installed and get an enclosur for all this (the woofers don't need anything special, its the sub that needs the encloser, and i also want a stealth look. I also want it to take as little room as possible. _________________ If time is of the essence,

I have used both the 77 and 47DH models of pioneer "DIN-and-a-half" head units. They stand up well and have fair adjustability. The only downer is that they haven't been updated in ages, so features like MP3 playback and more impressive visuals are non-existant. Regardless, this should look more at home in the dash of your 93 caddy.
So are you putting those 10" woofers in the rear deck? If not, I don't know that you will get the fidelity that you desire.
I guess it's a caddy, so space isn't too much of a problem. _________________ |¤| |

I have also used both the 77 and 47DH models. Like Sally said, they are a bit dated. Unless you can get a great price on one, I'd go for a standard DIN unit with an adapter. You will get more features for your money.
As far as the woofers go, what 10's are you using? For that midbass range, a good 6.5" or possibly an 8" would likely yield better performance with smoother response. Typically the larger woofers have breakup in the midbass reagion. Also, if you run those 10's with the hexagonal 10, be sure to low-pass the subwoofer and bandpass the midbass to avoid resonance and cancellation problems. _________________ •Asus P5K SE •Q6700 •4GB G.Skill •BFG 512MB GeForce 8800GT

the lack of mp3 playabilty did bother me for a short while, but not much as i can always plug my mp3 player to the line in. And indeed it does look right at home, the wood trim fits perfictly around the radio.
The two tens are from a company called bela (it's a house brand) which is the same thing as a max caliber. I'll see if i can get more info on these.
As for location of the woofers they are going in the trunk right under the rear deck. I was thinking of leaving them open air (original plan was to replace the 6x9s with the 10's but i wouldn't have enough room on the rear deck, so I'm getting the 6x9s and putting the 10's below and closer together.
for the filtering i'm going to rely on the amps to that (initially) and if that doesn't work out i'll fix it.
One small question about the radio. Is the alarm features of any use?
the guy who's taking care of the installation told me that most people end up asking to have it removed. and the car already has several anti-theft features. _________________ If time is of the essence,

i think you would have probably been better off with the 15....but we can tune it right anyway!
I had two setups in my last car.
1. 5 x 10" subs. This was nuts...sounded loud...and clear...but didnt handlethe low end right.
2. 1 x 10"
1 x 15" ampped separately...was wicked.
With a caddy though...you got a lot of trunk. Maybe go free air on the "woofers" and sealed on the sub. IMO. _________________

----\__/--------------------------\__/----
.....amp...|....... /''''''''''\........|4f.....4f
.....amp...|....... \ __ /........|... amp
want the trunk to look a bit like this... but better, like out of wood and stuff and not made of dots. :) _________________ If time is of the essence,

well got all the parts, and the radio is installed, just waiting for some more cash to do the rest
(there are a few repairs to take care of first, the door my cousin ripped off the car, the heating core/vacume relays)
setup is being changed a bit, after trying the 10's, they suck, so switching to 2x10in rockford p2's sealed, and 1x10in ported. The remote wires will be on two swtiches over the radio, so i can select either setup or both.
something i'm hoping to try soon...
there are projectors on the market that can throw a 30inch image from around 4 feet. I'm thinking, if I put a screen right behind the front seats, i can put a projector on the rear parcel shelf, and the laugh at all the pathetic fools that have 7in headrest monitors.
now all i need is a 1G to try it :) _________________ If time is of the essence,
