I am having trouble with multiplayer in CoD2

I was trying to play CoD2 with a friend of mine last night. I setup a server and he could not find it. I then told him to setup a server thinking maybe he couldn't find mine (he's not that great with computers). I could not find his. Then we tried to find an empty server in the main server window. My list was displaying 441 servers and his was only displaying 123 servers. We couldn't even find the same servers to join. I don't understand either of these. How come we couldn't see each others servers? Is there something I'm missing here?

I asked him if he updated, maybe he didn't. could that cause something like that? Shouldn't you still see the same servers?

Well you can find us on teh 2XS server a lot. It's a rifles only server.

Look for either:
