Hey sorry it took so long to get back to TN, this has been the first week after launching the new bizness, and my associate has skipped the country with his wife to jamaica for a week, eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek! I'm handling 3 offices in 3 different cities, including my own, so where was I?

Oh yes, my friend agrees that the Intell quad core kicks bootyshake but for the PRICE, I'm getting a good processor, comparatively,, He went into detail about why, and I need to brush up on all that, forgive me for forgetting almost every word he said,,, ,,, but I do remember that he agrees with you guys, it's just the budget combined with other features i absolutely HAD to have that made the AMD best for this particular project.

It''s all a balance of so many things he said, but I think it's going to be fine for the stuff I need. Remember, i doubt if I'll ever start gaming,( unless you guys convince me that it makes money, )

I will ask him again, trouble is he'd rather talk than write, so I have to memorize his explanation, which was quite lengthy.. I understood it, but when I try to recall it, there's this word SATA, along with apples & oranges, and a half dozen of this or 6 of that. Meaning, he's talking about compatability issues, keeping the power matching the memory, etc,, and i'm probablt still getting it mixed up. But that's why I needed help, this is all extremely fascinating, but new to me at this point.

More as soon as I can talk him into writing his explanation down, lol...

I'm ordering the 20" Ultrasharp monitor tonight, as it finally went on sale, wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! I received all the parts from Dell on my birthday (Jan. 18th) and UPS'd them all out to him in one package yesterday. The same day he received all his list of parts from Directron, and is waiting for my batch, which is halfway there by now,, Check out my new keyboard,,, Very Happy

Thanks Xal, just now finished celebrating,,,,

Back to the puter: It's in its final stages of completion, here's a pic sent by the builder,, sorry about the focus:

Here's what he wrote:

Good news, the activation and all microshaft updates went super smooth - not a strange peep of any kind regarding your office install, and everything is working smooth and FAST...
The HDs are on the left, those really cool blue heat-sinks are the RAM moduals just above the processor...Here you can see the forrest moon Endor... No, scratch that... Here's the on-board heat-pipe right by the exhaust fans at the back - these also draw the heat from around the processor and RAM to the back of the case - also, notice how the vid card is right next to one of the exhaust fans, this is a good arrangement. All the cabling is tied, and routed out of the way so that air-flow will be nice and clean.

Except for the new TV capture card

(RS wrote: *Dvico FusionHDTV5 Express with remote" and will be on its way later this week when I have more $ Very Happy )

...this little monster is ready to do your bidding. I tried closer photos, but it gets pretty bad with the flash. and nothing without it... I've got the auto fan control working, and the temp feed from the processor hooked up too - all fed to a blue LCD readout on the face, with a control knob for the fan control to be turned up and down manually. The MCE drivers and application set for the VFD LCD media display are working properly, with a tray icon that lets you decide to have it dispay system status, RTA from sound, Date and time, and many other things

.. I've also strapped a small connector with a blue LED just back of the small remote window, this flashes durring drive activity - suble and matching the motif of the case... Also, firefox browser is installed, with updates, the nicest "skin" setup, the weather plugin with it set up for your ZIP, and the foxy music extension as well - this puts music controls on the status bar of the browser... Adobe Acrobat 8, SuperSonic, Updated WMP, ViewPro, AdAware, Moon Phase, WinZip, Zoom DVD & File Player, and a grand total of 73 updates from microsoft are all installed. A small Icon set I placed in your documents folder.

AVG is killing their free antivirus program, so I found one that is better - I need to get that one as well - very nice, very competent. The drive setup is done so that D drive is a secure storage point, I placed a folder there, and put source files for the stuff I installed in your machine. Also there is a folder called firefoxDL on D - this is where all of your downloads are placed while using that browser... This machine is ready for anything you throw at it, power, speed, and massive space - I gotta get one of these! .. soon enough...

More soon! I got the 20" 2007FP, pictures of that coming soon, it just got here yesterday,,, Here's the link to that video capture card>I'll find out which antivirus program he's talking about too..

AVG is NOT killing their free version. They have an updated free version, better than ever, and an updated freeware anti-spyware program as well.

I asked about that, and he said he'd thought the same thing, but once you install it, it will begin the automatic update and tell you the whole story..

Doesn't sound fair, I saw all the "Free Update" sites too.. I guess they do that to get you into it,,, some people will just pay it to save time.

(Free) Avast is what he installed.. Another friend of mine has also recommended that one, she's been using it for years with no problem.

I'm just glad to be free from Norton, the blood suckers. My Mom insisted on renewing her subscription last week for $70. ugh.. Mad

i have a question, that is probably yes: See how some of my letters end up not capped? this keyboard requires a Hi-speed USB connection, which this old Dell does not have... .. It's slow on the response,, will the HS USB fix that? I have a bunch on the new puter/
