ABIT IC7-G
512 MB PC3200 (Corsair TWINX) Dual Channel
P4 2.4C@3.0Ghz(250 FSB)
ATI radeon 9800
Swiftech watercooled setup
Mem timings =2-7-3-3
Mem divider = 5/4
RAID-0 Config via onchip device
Mem Voltage =2.8
AGP fixed
Hyperthreading Enabled
Dual Channel Mode enabled

Greetings Nathan, I have been most impressed by the success of your advice. Hopefully you can help me. My mobo does not post when I attempt to fsb o'clock past 253 mhz. I get a blank screen and a series of beeps. My hardware is all up to date, I belive all bios revisions have been installed, my voltage is around 2.65. I bought this board because it was supposed to be superb at overclocking, along with this processor. I doubt my memory is a bottleneck because I have read other reviews with people with the exact setup reaching speeds closer to 4Ghz. Can you please make as many suggestions as you can? Thanks in advance,
RS

Ok, let the Doctor work on you.

In the soft menu in the BIOS, got down to AGP Ratio and set it to fixed.

Under that, make sure that agp/pci frequency is set to 66/33Mhz.

You will have to drop your memory timings to 3-8-4-4- to get the best overclock and set your divider to 3/2.

Hope this helps.

4Ghz isn't going to happen on just plain water, unless you have a really outstanding chip. Set your agp/pci as Nathan said, and try the 3:2 divider, just to make sure it isn't your ram. You may just have reached the limit of the cpu. Can you post the FPO/Batch info. It may help some. Also what revision is your TwinX?

I guarantee that his AGP/PCI is not locked out.

My agp/pci is locked and I followed your advice, and still no change. Is it possible I need faster RAM I.E PC4000-
The FPO/Batch # is L315A908 the pack date is 06/03/03.
MY RAM is revision 2.0- Any advice on perhaps an updated BIOS or something?

Did you change your ram timings?

Did you lower the divider to 3/2?

yes i changed the timings- however this time @ 256 mhz, the system booted but froze during the post. Im not sure what this is indicating- my temps are around 36 C Idle. Can you tell me if perhaps my processor is the culprit- or maybe the mem- with the info I gave on the post before

MY RAM is revision 2.0

This uses Winbond CH-5 chips IIRC. There is an issue with these chips and the IC7's. There is tons of info posted on ABIT's forums. Seems anything over 250ish 5:4 or 3:2 just won't boot.

my power supply is 435W Enermax,
what can be done about the ICH5 instanility with high FSB speeds? How are other IC7-G users reaching such high speeds? Would PC4200 MEM even help?

triniman - they probably aren't using the winbond chips on their memory.

Maybe try getting some memory that doesnt have winbond chips.

I used that same ram to go to 3.5Ghz so that's not the problem.

Are you using the game accelerator or something?

could it be that his processor voltage is set too high?? I have been keeping mine at around 5.25. or 5.5. Although I am unable to find in IC-& where to set my memory timings. Do I need to flash my bios for the new version b/s I haven't donet hat yet.

It's in the advanced chipset features---> DRAM timing selectable.

If overclocking, set them to 3-8-4-4 or if you are staying stock, set them to 2-5-3-2

Maybe a drop in voltage could do the trick or maybe to 1.65 ot 1.675, nothing more than that.
