Well the first one has a larger cache, so I assume it would perform better. I'm not really knowledgable about laptops though, so I'm not sure what sort of performance you would get out of either one. _________________ Love Is Not Enough... |

For a start, whats the price difference and does that play a role in your choice. If you are talking purely spec wise then the 2.0 is by FAR the better option. Higher clock and more cache combined with a better gfx card, no question. _________________ Phenom II x4 955 @ Stock

If you asking what is better according to value, then look at it this way:
Take the price difference for the upgrade, divide it by the total price of the lower model. That calculation will tell you what percentage the cost of the upgrade is of the total price of the lower machine. Then ask yourself "Is the upgrade in performance comparable to the percentage of the total price (of the lower model) that the upgrade costs?"
i.e (These are just sample figures for calculation purposes)
Lower model: 1000
Upgrade: 450
Higher model: 1450
Calculation: 450/1000=.45 (45%)
Question: "Is the upgrade in performace worth 45% price increase?"
If the value factor isn't a concern for you then look at it this way:
Look at the specs of both machines. (As you have posted already) and ask yourself "Which one has a faster processor and better video card?"
That's the way I would analyze it depending on my decision factors. Hope this helps. _________________ "....Or as almost every word in a sentence; Tweak the tweaking tweakers!"

Also, for 45% price increase, do you get 45% more performance.
If not, it won't be worth it nor will you really see a differrence unless you are gaming. _________________ Owner & Administrator

Exactly, if you are basing you purchase on price to performance then the examples above are always a good guide. If however you are basing your purchase on needs and requirements we will need to know what you plan on doing with the laptop. If you plan on playing games for example the extra MHZ and higher spec graphics card would be worth the extra 45% (to follow the example) If you just plan on light gaming and basic office work and internet then I would have to say that even with the price to performance ratio in the favor of performance it may not be worth it. If you are a nut for having a ton of windows open at the same time and tab between applications a lot though the extra cache on the 2.0 might be usefull but not really all that noticeable. _________________ Phenom II x4 955 @ Stock
