Now when it restarts and it says there is an error it will say what caused it.
Like the video driver or something.
Tell us what the error tells you. _________________ Owner & Administrator

yeah and if its a BSOD then you can find the details in
control pannel
administrative tools
event viewer
system
It should be listed with a red circle with a white X. See what the info says. _________________ Phenom II x4 955 @ Stock

Also, most motherboards will have some kind of beeping or an alarm if it shuts down to due to heat issues. _________________ "....Or as almost every word in a sentence; Tweak the tweaking tweakers!"

the error message should give a good indication even if the mobo does not have the function. It could also be power related. Give us the info from the error and we will have a better idea of what could be the cause. _________________ Phenom II x4 955 @ Stock

Very few do that unless you hit the alarm level.
They have to be enabled most times and they are not on by default.
Instant resetting due to heat overloading can occur most times without any warning. _________________ Owner & Administrator

did you UNDERCLOCK, meaning set the speed UNDER the stock settings?
Your most stable settings are supposed to be stock.....but there ARE other OVERclocked settings that will be just as stable....but that doesnt mean ALL overclocked settings that boot into windows are stable....most of the times, hidden instabilities shine through while playing games, and when just using the comp for normal everyday stuff like music and web, it'll appear to be running fine.
My suggestion, is find a stable OC position, then reinstall OC'ed....get windows on there with that speed.... _________________

Oh, ok. My apologies, I was speaking form personal experience. Then again, my personal experience is much more limitted than your own. =P Not to mention, I have also only owned ABit boards. _________________ "....Or as almost every word in a sentence; Tweak the tweaking tweakers!"
