I installed a GeForce 5900 (not the ultra) into my newly built system (Athlon 2800 XP). I ran 2001 SE and got marks right around 14500. Now I understand that the core clock of the 5900 is supposed to be 400 mhz. I installed powers trip on my system and went to the performance configure screen and it had my core speed at 300 and memory speed at 850. I ran 2001 SE and got scores around 13200. I then tried to set the settings in power strip to the stock 5900 settings and got mid 13000's. So I uninstalled Powerstrip, uninstalled nvidia drivers and then reinstalled them. Ran 2001 SE and still getting 13000ish scores. Uninstalled and reinstalled drivers again and same story. So I totally reinstalled windows and all drivers again and now Im back up to the 14500 2001 SE scores I started with. Is this a problem with powerstrip. Is this the only way to overclock my 5900? Thanks for any info.

Sys Specs

Athlon 2800 XP
A7N8X Rev 2
PC 2700 256 MB.
GeForce FX 5900 128mb
160 gb Maxtor HD

Don't use powerstrip, it's a hardware level overclocking tool.

What you need is Rivatuner and use their Driver level overclocking. Some times some cards don't like to be overclocked. Try Rivatuner out and I think you might have some better luck.
