Ok, I am at my witts end here.
I have the Asus P4c800 Deluxe
I have to SATA WD 120gb hd's connected to the SATA RAID Controller.
I have the RAID controller enabled in the BIOS, When I enter the RAID configuration utility by pressing ctr-F i see the drives. It auto sets up a striped ARRAY from me. After I reboot and try to install Windows XP, I get the error that Setup can not continue because it does not detect any hard drives.
Every time, I install it I press F6 when it asks for the addition RAID driver, I install it from the floppy. I have tried using the Driver that came on the CD, and also the Driver that is available for download from ASUS. It always gives me the same error.
I can boot up with a boot disk, and fdisk the drive, and even format it. But XP keeps erroring out. I am guessing that it must be some simple seting I am missing in the BIOS but I just don't see it.
Please help
Thanks for your time |

First off, why do you think you really need a RAID array. Is it that necessary?
I checked on Asus's website and noticed that that motherboard has two different SATA controllers. Which set are you using? Did you read the manual?
The Southbridge controlled set is usually called the onchip SATA devices and the Promise controlled pair are the Onboard SATA controller.
Did you set the SATA for booting? Did you install the right driver for the right controller? Are the drives partitioned and setup for an install?
If this confuses you, you should just go with a normal setup other than RAID. You can always set up a RAID array in the future once you have gained more knowledge and experience. _________________ Owner & Administrator
