your basically buying a 2000 computer thats already obsolete... AMD will be discontinuing the 939's soon. either go AM2 or the best coice as of now, and get a Core 2 duo... my 2c... _________________ P4 3.2ghz

-Antec P180 case -AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!! this case falls apart after a while, it's not all that quiet, its hell to work in. if you want a good quiet case, get a lian-li v1100 or v2100
-Antec Phantom 500 (Silent 500w PSU)
not stable at all, if you want a silent/fanless PSU look at thermaltake or SilenX
-Western Digital Raptor 150gb 16mb cache
good drive
-AMD Athlon 64 4000+ San Diego 2000MHz HT 1MB L2 Cache Socket 939 Processor
Good CPU, if you don't plan on upgrading soon. Also might look at the new intel core 2 duos
-ZALMAN CNPS9500 LED 92mm 2 Ball Blue LED Light Cooling Fan with Heatsink
-CORSAIR ValueSelect 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM Unbuffered DDR2 533 (PC2 4200) Dual Channel Kit System Memory
The mobo takes DDR1, which from what i've seen is still slightly faster then DDR2. I'ld recommend OCZ premier kit instead, i little better quality
-ASUS A8N-SLI Premium Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI ATX AMD Motherboard
Not a bad board, i'ld suggest more the a8n32-sli, not because of the 16x each sli, but because it's made with better components and better designed.
-NEC Black 16X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 8X DVD+R DL 16X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW
16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 32X CD-RW 48X CD-ROM 2M Cache IDE/ATAPI DVD Burner
-LITE-ON Black 52X CD-R 32X CD-RW 52X CD-ROM 1.5M Cache IDE CD Burner
Why? you DVD burner will do all that!
-eVGA 256-P2-N553-AX Geforce 7600GT 256MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card
A good card, well priced and all. OK for gaming but not great
-Creative Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS SB0350 7.1 Channels PCI Interface Sound Card
the base X-fi card might be a better choice depending on price
-AG Neovo CW-19 Black 19" 4ms Widescreen LCD Monitor 300 cd/m2 500:1 0.285mm Pixel Pitch
No comment never heard of them. _________________ If time is of the essence,

Suggest:
1. Buy a used rig off of eBay and use it for 6 months, then
2. Buy the dual core machine you want.
You'll end up with 2 machines for the cost of one today. |

Hi Jame,
Firstoff, I dont mind what case you are planning to get since it's up to your own preference. I strongly suggest you buy a Core Duo set since their price/performance beats everything at this current time.
Here are the hardwares that I suggest you should consider rather than your original idea.
1. Intel Core 2 Duo E6400
2. ASUS P5B Socket T (LGA 775)
3. CORSAIR ValueSelect 2GB (2 x 1GB) is fine in this case. (if you dont plan to overclock)
4. 2* Western Digital 74Gbs running in RAID 0
5. Nvidia BFG 7950GX2
6. Enermax Liberty 620Watt
Except these hardwares, other pieces that you are originally planning to buy should be fine.
These specs should be in your budget. I'd suggest you keep what you have left after buying for future upgrade.
This spec will play any games with maxed out settings or run any applications without a single lag.
Good luck =) |

| Before making any real configurations, it would be wise to know what monitor you will be using. It's always best to tailor the system around the resolution you will be running, and the maximum Hz thereof. |

Sorry, I missed the monitor somehow. when I read the post earlier...personally I would recommend a slightly better monitor, like this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16824116380
All around best performing 19in monitor. This is confirmed by several review sites. Tom's Hardware has a very good testing regimen. There are others you could get, but one thing I adhere to at all times is I will not skimp on the monitor. You're going to be spending a lot of time in front of it, it has to be the highest quality you can get.

This is my monitor. Little more expensive, but I could not be happier with it. It's also the cheapest, high-quality LCD you can get running at 1600x1200 (important for me). Was over $500 when I bought mine |
