Hello Tweakers. After researching cooling systems and computer cases/chassis; I came across this site, and found the responses in forums to be well objective, specified, and informative (sometimes rude also

). This is what I like.

Make a long story short. I am a partial newb to building computers, and I have researched all of my computer components due to customer reviews, specifications, and recommendations.

All I can say is that it is a Good thing I did not invest in the FX-60 and ASUS A8N32-Sli Deluxe Mobo like I was going to a month ago. Now that the new Core 2 Duo Procs are out. (I hesitated on buying only because I was not sure if I wanted to go with strict air-cooling or water-cooling... I am still hesitant... And it is not due to money, only due to the caution and idea of water leaking and blowing a 3-4 thousand dollar investment.)

So my QUESTION IS: What case to get?!?! I was originally going to get the Thermaltake TJ07. But I am no longer sure about it, since it is a slightly older but still popular and cool efficient model.

I can care less about design or lights. It is all about temperature and speed for me.

Physics card and a whole bunch of fans, cd-roms and 3.5 drive bays.

If there is any information that one would need to determine the best computer case for me, let me know what I need to answer.

I know it is important to know if you are going with air or liquid cooling, nonetheless, just assume I am making two computers and I need two cases.

And yes! It is being built for online gaming, minor college, and work applications. But ESPECIALLY for GAMING!!

Money is always an issue really..., but not for me on this computer.

Really, if I were looking for a case that could do both air and water cooling equally well, I'd look at the Thermaltake Armor, Kandalf, or (if you have a ton of money) the Tai Chi. I'm partial to the Armor, myself. Lots of bays, great air cooling, and built-in doodles for water cooling. Got you covered on both cooling setups right there.

Another option I've been looking at myself is the CoolerMaster Stacker 830. Same number of drive bays, with a massive amount of fan mounting spots. I believe it can handle up to NINE 120mm fans. Pricey, though.......

Personally, I'm using an iStar Storm S9 that does an excellent job at air cooling, but I don't know if I'd throw a Core 2 Duo Extreme at it. It's a mid-tower, and for what you're looking at, you'll definitely want to be looking at a full-tower case.

Thank you very much for the Welcome. And YES I did mean the Silverstone TJ07. I couldn't edit it... Razz

About having tons of money... I don't have tons; however, I am willing to invest 300-500 on a case alone. I am almost tempted to buy the VapoChill, but the casing simply sucks for being around 800-900 dollars.

Nonetheless, I will research those recommendations right now while I am at work.

After researching and reading approximately 80 reviews and benchmarks; not only have I decided to go with AIR cooling, but out of the Thermaltake, Kandalf, and Tai Chi ...the CoolerMaster Stacker 830 retained the coolest under heavy OC'ed circumstances at 46 degrees celsius.

I am not saying the "CoolMaster Stacker 830 is the best air cooling case out there", it is just the best one I have researched out of the three: Thermaltake Armor VA8000, KANDALF VA9000SWA, and Tai Chi.

If anyone else has a suggestion for a good air cooling case unit, please let me know. I am still in the market with the CM S 830 at the top of my list.

Yes, I agree. The CoolMaster Stacker 830 is the best I have researched so far. And I have researced for a long time now... Now I am tired, the CM S 830 wins!
