You have an inline 4 cylinder engine with a total displacement of 1.8 liters. On that vehicle the only thing you will notice is more noise when you get on the gas. No HP gains and no mileage gains. In fact you will probably see worse mileage due to the fact you like to hear the sound it makes when you step on it.

There is nothing wrong with K&N filters.

They do free up horsepower in the upper rpm ranges but what is being said here about the negative effects is a little overstated.

Putting a K&N in your vehicle will do no harm, and will only save you money in the long run with not having to replace the filter all the time.

I concur. I run 'em in all my vehicles. Saves me trips to the parts store, too.
Hell, I even machined some plates to mount one on the CV carb I put on my bike several years ago. Now I can go a whole season without fooling with the air cleaner.

I like 'em!

good. Couple things though.

Does your car have one engine...or four. They way you were making it seem was that you had a FOUR engined car....which of course would be a seriously modified machine.....a little hard to swallow with documentation.

If in fact one engine....then what they said above is good.

NEXT thing however....which should require a new thread...is i noticed your sig says OC'ed 20% to 3.6....are you using the AI OC tuner that asus supplies you in the bios? if so..you should NOT be.....do it manually.
All of us here would be more than happy to explain how its done! =D

Thanks for pointing out about the OC :). What is the advantage of OC manually?

When OCing automatically...youre allowing the mobo to "chose" what settings are best for that OC....when in fact, they may not be right....or may vary at times when you dont want it to.

The only way you can guarantee stability, is setting everything manually, and testing yourself.

There are a few stickies in the OCing theard menu.....they should help you get started understanding things. Dont mess around until you at least get the idea of how things work. Little reading, and soon you'll be on your way. =]

Let's start another thread on this topic and not derail this one.

I've been using K&N filters on every car I have had. I absolutely love 'em. I prefer being able to clean my own filter and re-oil, rather than spending 10-20 bucks for a replacement filter.

As for mileage improvement. As stated above, with your engine you won't notice much, if any, difference. But as also stated above, it does sound cool when you stomp on it.

The money saving potential is tempting enough to lure me in because the K&N filter+refill kit cost me about $45 while the generic replacement FRA sold at Walmart already costs $15+tax /each Very Happy

Yeah, after I checked the price. Previously, I thought a generic one costs only $5/each

Initial report: I think the horsepower improves noticeably. I have not measure the mileage yet. Will report soon.

So far I am happy with this change

Glad to hear it. Did you get the cool little key chain too? I lost mine I loved that thing.

Actually, come to think of it, I lost my oil kit too. Damnit.
