Hello!
Here is my new system
MB-Asus P5WD2-E
CPU-Intel 805 D 2.66 over clocked to about 3.6-3.8
VC-Ati 850xt 256 megs
HD-Seagate 250 Sata
HD-Seagate 120 Sata
Ram-1 Gig Crucial Cas 4 667 ram (5300)
Fan-Zalman 9500
I heard that it is best for video cards and such to have dual 12 volt rails, one with at least 30 amps on it. Is this true? And for this system, what power supply(s) would you suggest?
The only one I found with these specs is this Istar on newegg

look at thermaltake, enermax, or OCZ
all three have models out with those specs and they are fairly quiet and very reliable. The enermax liberty or Thermaltake TWV are particularly nice because they are modular. _________________ If time is of the essence,

I looked at all those psus since they were all highly thought of and they didnt have ONE model with 30 ams on ONE 12 volt line. Maybe I am a bit ignorant. Does my system need COMBINED 12 volt lines of thirty amps total? Or ONE 12 volt line with thirty amps on it...Maybe thats where I am confused!
Thanks for replying so fast btw =) |

If you want a psu that has a single 12v rail with the high amperage look for a PC Power and Cooling unit. They tend to be noisier but they are the only units I use in my main power systems. They are rock solid power supplies. _________________ I tweaked and it tweaked back! So I Tweaked some more!

generally speaking a combined of over 30amps
The PC power and cooling is a very good PSU but it is also very noisy, also sizewise is longer then most. other then size and noise, it is one of the best out there. Too noisy for me though _________________ If time is of the essence,
