Not sure if this is the right section for this, so I apologize in advance if it is not.

Most of you are familliar with the notorius A-Bit northbridge fans failing. Instead of replacing them, there is a trick to fix them about 99% of the time.

If you remove the fan from the board and look at its bottomn side, you will find a sticker. Carefully peel the sticker back until the berring is revealed. Place a drop or two of 3 in 1 oil on the the berring and spin teh fan fan around to work it in. Then replace the sticker and mount the fan, should work like a charm.

Yip, this is what I do, takes about 2 minutes.

Just don't over do it with the oil or get any oil on the sticker surface or it won't ever stick again.

never really had the abit fan problem and i've been running abit boards for a few years...

My solution to northbridge fans is to get boards that have passive cooling, and there was one board I arctic epoxied a p3 heatsink to.

But all in all i recommend looking at boards with passive cooling just so that you never have to worry about fan failure

But, you will never et the cooling out of a passive cooler as you will see with an active fan cooler.

I've had to do this a time or two. Works better than stock also. A couple of cable ties holds it on fine.
