| I'm a novice on computers. I want to buy hardware and programs that require 512MB RAM, but my computer shows I have 504MB. Should I still be able to run them? The hardware and software are for recording music if that helps. Thank you. |

If you are using the machine for music recording then I strongly reccomend at least 1gb of RAM. The programs should work on your current system but won't perform as well as they should, you may experience dropouts and the like. _________________ Phenom II x4 955 @ Stock

Never go with the minumum.
Always go with double your minimum requirement is.
1 gig is the lowest I will ever have in my systems.
Even my laptop has 1 gig. _________________ Owner & Administrator

You're showing only 504 RAM because your computer commandeered some of it. The diff between 512 and 504 is no biggie and in itself probably will not detract from performance. |

Depending on what software you're talking about, 512mb is far from enough. If you're talking pro studio software, like Cubase or ProTools, 1gb is the bare minimum. You'd really need 2gb. _________________ Big enough to scare you |

^ Exactly, Sound software is heavilly dependant on RAM. _________________ Phenom II x4 955 @ Stock
