As some of you know I have been doing some tweaking on my Jeep. And all of have wanted to see pics. Well I have some "in progress" pics for you today.
Enjoy!
A nice side shot and the Chevy truck that is in front of the Jeep is a 1-ton dually. So you can kind of compare the height.

This is the rear tire carrier fab project. It looks sexy so far!

Thomas giving the bumper a "HI 5"

And Thomas making sure the tire is on properly.

Remember these tires are about 33" tall

How does it handle cornering, with it that high?

Will universal joints be an issue?

Nice job, it looks sharp

As MB has said we haven't driven it yet. The shop isn't done with everything yet. But as far as ride quality with the long arms, it should be better than a new lincoln. Since it is a lifted vehicle the COG is alot higher so it's not going to corner like a sportscar. But it will handle the rocks great!

The U-joints will be fine as the angles will be well with specification. Also the rear is using a SYE on an NP 231HD transfer case.

And thank you, we are very happy with the way it is turning out.

Nice Weaz, very nice. Lifted trucks are fun. Though that is the first Jeep Grand Cherokee I have seen lifted. Usually it's late 80's K5 Blazers or Broncos. You get originality points.

I guess it all depends on where you are from. I have seen many a lifted Grand, just not many with long arms. Most of the Grands you see lifted are just using the budget boost method (which I had on there before). But I wanted to be able to run 33" tires and have a nice soft ride. So the only choice was to go with long arms.

The fuel economy shouldn't be that bad. Well at least compared to what it was already. As Jeeps DO NOT get good gas mileage. It is just a fact of life.

Thank you, all. I am excited about the way it is turning out. It is supposed to be going to the exhaust shop today for a new cat and muffler with custom 2 1/2" pipe out the back. So if all goes well I should have it back tomorrow. Well that is if Rusty's sent out the new drag link like they said they would. But we will see.

I will post some pics when we get it out on the trails

I thought a wench is what gets you a beer at taverns.

ok so here are a few more pics.

The front diff should be ready to go in early next week and the sliders are ready to be picked up today. So then I have to take the rear bumper off and get it painted as well as the sliders. Then reinstall everything.

I am waiting to make sure that the OC is stable, I am running memtest on it as we speak but so far everything looks good. Well beside the rear diff that was rebuilt about 3 months ago sounds like it needs to be done again.

looks sweet.... I am in the process of lifting my 92 cherokee 5" (rears done, fronts started) We'll have to swap Jeep stories some time. How much lift and what size tires you got on it?

overall suspension lift is about 7 inches and the tires are 305-70R16 so they are about 33 x 12.50. So it sits about 9 inches tallers than stock. The suspension is a Clayton's Hard-Arm kit with Rubicon Express 4.5" springs with JKS ACOS spacers and Pro-Comp MX-6 shocks.
Right now it is still riding a little stiff even after taking it on a good washboard road for about 30-40 miles. So if it doesn't loosen up some more I may get some of Rusty's 5.5" springs as they are a bit soft with a spring rate of 180 lbs vs the RE springs of 210 lbs.

Have you checked out Jeepforum.com?
