|
|
Can't get my yahoo eMail since about 8pm last night.. , doesn't say why, just a big 'Cannot Find Server message.' But everything else works....? I have cable, 384k. Scanned for viruses = 0, ran all the spyware & zapped anything non-kosher, rebootied, asked other people thru a different eMail addy.. One said it was up, the other says it's down..Nobody else I know is awake yet,,, ... Can't find any info about it on the news..
All this happened 2 days after I installed the new Yahoo toolbar. Yeah, I know it has spyware, just wanted to see if I could get an email notification icon for my Yahoo address which it advertised,,, but didn't work! .. oh well.. After I couldn't access the site through any avenue, I uninstalled the toolbar, but it didn't change anything.
I know, this is so EARTHSHAKING, lol Just wondering if anyone else had a problem with Yahoo.com?
My apologies to my favorite TN buddies for disappearing for so long, BTW, I check in to see what's going on with TN occasionally, but haven't had time to post (due to several other equally earthshaking disasters..)
HEY, I saw where FTR got banned, Nathan, how could you do that!!?? Geeez, now How will I know which mouse to buy???.... : .) _________________ ♫ Josh Awards=+12 -5 =7 ~HaM=3~ Ж=3 ~Zero_Fresh=3~Burgundian Award=1~JW=4 ~ ÿ =1~Sean=1~Dene=3 ~Putale Kudos=1~GMoney=4~Sally Grommit Award=1~Bunni & Badger=2 Gold Stars ♫

Nevermind, it seems to be confined to my computer, ???? Since it doesn't affect anything else, it's easier to just find a new email server. I closed the yahoo addy out at my Mom's house, since she had no problem. _________________ ♫ Josh Awards=+12 -5 =7 ~HaM=3~ Ж=3 ~Zero_Fresh=3~Burgundian Award=1~JW=4 ~ ÿ =1~Sean=1~Dene=3 ~Putale Kudos=1~GMoney=4~Sally Grommit Award=1~Bunni & Badger=2 Gold Stars ♫

You should get a gmail account. They are the best out there. I know because I am a professional emailer. I have a keyboard AND a mouse! _________________ "....Or as almost every word in a sentence; Tweak the tweaking tweakers!"

Haha Zero, WOW, I should take your advice then!
Yahoo is back, as of 5 hours ago, for some strange reason....? A friend withe the same server was having the same problem and he called them today.. They "reset his modem" which fixed his problem. Mine just came back for no reason,,,,,?
I need a new computer, guys .. but I'm embarrasred to buy another Dell. I'd love to build one, wonder if I can? Is it a tough thing to do? Could I use the old casing if I did? _________________ ♫ Josh Awards=+12 -5 =7 ~HaM=3~ Ж=3 ~Zero_Fresh=3~Burgundian Award=1~JW=4 ~ ÿ =1~Sean=1~Dene=3 ~Putale Kudos=1~GMoney=4~Sally Grommit Award=1~Bunni & Badger=2 Gold Stars ♫

Chances are you will not be able to use the Dell case, they are proprietary.
Building your own machine isn’t that hard. You've seen enough pictures of enough computer guts to know where everything is supposed to go. There are a couple of connectors that are going to give you a hard time figuring out. Other than that, most of it is common sense and questions that can be answered here. =] _________________ "....Or as almost every word in a sentence; Tweak the tweaking tweakers!"

If Togglehead can build a computer, you cerrtainly can, RS.
Really, putting one together isn't that hard. Figuring out what to buy is the hardest part, since you have to make sure everything works together........like people trying to jam an AGP card and DDR into a mobo that uses PCIe and DDR2.
You know how to install the OS, so you're good there. Just fire off the questions, we'll set you right. _________________ Big enough to scare you |

Common sense, Uh Oh... Well, if TH can, I guess I'll give it a try when the time comes. Sounds good, thanks Z & FnF,, I know people who have gutted cases around, so will start thinking about what I need, probly 1 gig at least.
Already have the 2 CD burners installed, 1, thanks to Sean coaching me so well. I love TN, makes me feel more confident about destroying my computer. I know I'll have a shoulder to cry on if it self destructs too, which is nice. I'll keep you posted if this one starts messing up again... .

Yup. And since you're a GIRLY tweaker, you'll have more help than you know what to do with. Chivalry and all, y'know.
First two things you really need to decide.
1. AMD or Intel
2. ATI or nVidia
Those two choices alone will dictate what sort of parts you're gonna need. Although, if you really want to simplify it, ATI and Intel go together (Crossfire), whle AMD and nVidia go best together (SLI). _________________ Big enough to scare you |

Confidence TH? Isn't that where you install something in a puter and when you boot it up, it starts pouring black smoke? Cause I'm confident that would probably happen! But'cha never know! It might be white smoke too. ( i use good grammer to make up for all the stuff i don't know
Hmmmmmmmm, let's see
1. AMD or Intel
2. ATI or nVidia
What would you recommend FnF? Intel sounds more familiar, for what that's worth...? A girlie tweaker? HAHAHAHA, That was good.. You hear that, Bunni, lolol _________________ ♫ Josh Awards=+12 -5 =7 ~HaM=3~ Ж=3 ~Zero_Fresh=3~Burgundian Award=1~JW=4 ~ ÿ =1~Sean=1~Dene=3 ~Putale Kudos=1~GMoney=4~Sally Grommit Award=1~Bunni & Badger=2 Gold Stars ♫

Well...honestly....depends on what you need it for....=]
Intel might cost a bit more...but IMO is more well rounded....i dont think you have any need for SLI or Crossfire unless youre gaming a lot....=]
i like intel for my music stuff...=] _________________

I'm with TH there, I like Intel better for my studio work. Just seems to do a better job at crunching 64 tracks of raw music. Intel has always been a better performer at pure number cruching like that.
Do your research, then plan your budget. AMD isn't a slouch in the studio department, either, so you might do just fine with an AMD dual core setup. It'll just influence the rest of your rig (newer Intel, DDR2, Crossfire...........or AMD dual core, DDR, and SLI) _________________ Big enough to scare you |

Intel it is, I'm definitely more into the music thing, so that sounds like the way to go. My Dell seems to be working fine now, maybe it'll keep functioning properly so I won't need a new rig, let's see what happens in the next couple weeks...?

NO GOO on the Dell
Actually...IMO... right now....an Intel 805 processor and an Asus P5LD2, with a gig of Corsair VS memory, would produce a pretty good bang for the buck rig. Maybe add a 7600 or X1600 vid board, and it would do most anything you could ask of it. _________________ .

Hi Bunni, I'm doing great, now that the Dell seems to be back to it's normal self, thanks! I want to build a new one with TN's help someday, one, just waiting for this one to belly-up..
Been busy too, so I don't post as much as I'd like.. By the time I get finished reading, there's no time to write, but I'll do better. How is Thomas? I love all the pictures of him, he's literally growing up on TN,, maybe we should re-name him Tweakas..?

Thomas is doing great. I know we should. He is getting so big so quickly. He had a blast doing egg hunting. He knew what to do after the first egg. Were very proud of him.

| Nope I wasnt. We were at Nathans and all of the older cousins hid all of the eggs. And he got his little froggy easter basked but no candy or anything else. He had so much fun. Hopefully in the next 2 yrs we can have him and his future borther or sister out there, and have thomas helping out his lil bro or si. Now Im getting sad, I want to give Nathan a daughter and Thomas a little sister. |
