Arctic Cooling ATI Silencer 5 Rev 2

Just installed one of these on my videocard, ATI X800XL PCI-e:

http://www.arctic-cooling.com/vga2.php?idx=61

1. Installation was extremely easy

2. The unit was quite heavy, at least a pound I think due to the copper plate

3. They aren't as silent as advertised, you can hear the turbo fan.

4. I like the idea of venting the hot air outside of the case.

How are the temps? I'd be curious to know if your case/ cpu temps drop as a result of exhausting the hot air from the case.

I have a really old (+6 years) Antec midtower case that I modded years ago. 120mm intake, and 80mm rear and top exhaust, along with the 80mm power supply exhaust. So my case air flow is pretty good

From what I can monitor, the motherboard temp has dropped 2 degrees, from 86 to 84 degree Fahrenheit. There was no affect on the CPU temp. So I am happy

I had the AC1 (I think) for my 9600 Pro. Did a decent job at keeping the card cool, but it didn't really change my case/mobo temps at all. It's a low-speed fan, so it's not actually pushing all that much air. I could barely feel a bit of air coming out of the vent slot.

And yeah, they're not "silent", but still a bit quieter that most stock coolers.
