Anybody have any official word on the price of this beasty? I was in the market for an AiW and was going to go with the 9000 (which has dropped to 170 on the official site) but with the Remote Wonder too and the 8.6 (oh god.... the .1 difference!)MediaCenter has me thinkin' maybe poppin' up a notch would be a sweet deal.

Any thoughts?

Man, we have pretty well reviewed all of them except the VE, and 8500 edition.

Okay somewhere along the line someone said something about the 8500 bein' more powerful than the 9000? I mean...... in terms of power... how would you rank them... I know that top probably looks like....

9800
9700
9600 (Maybe?)

but then where? And the VE is the PCI card one right?

Damnit. I finally decide to buy myself an AIW and they immediately announce that there is gunna be a better one comin' soon. *swears*

But it should come out about the time of my birthday and ATI is good about announcing things at the same time we can buy'em. Unlike the FX5800 *rolls eyes*

The start of ATI dominating the videocard market.

Face it, these guys have been honest and make great products.

This is very true. An I'm definitely not an NVIdiot (I won't use a Graphics card if it ain't ATI) ..... but I do like the fact that there ARE two graphics card companies. I don't think that we would have the quality products we have if we didn't have two companies vying for the top honors. I mean do we realistically think that if ATI was top dog, no questions asked, they would continue to put so much effort into their cards?

According to ATI's site the suggested retail will be $249 which puts it about halfway between the 9000 and the 9700. Expect performance to be the same - about halfway between the 9000 and the 9700. I suspect the benchmark results will be at least 10% better than the 8500 and this will be the card that marks the EOL for the 8500.

The question was raised which is more powerful the 9000 or the 8500 that really depends on what your looking for. The 8500 consistently produces better 3d benchmark results but is not fully direct x 9 compliant. IMHO the video quality (Video in, tuner, and rendering) of the 9000 is better than the 8500.

I had upgraded from an AIW 128 to an 8500 and ended up selling the 8500 to a client and replaced it with a 7500. This was adequate because I refuse to pay $60 for a game so am always about a year and a half behind on my software. I thought about about a 9000 but didn't feel there was enough of a
jump in performance to justify it.

Right now I'm looking at either the aiw 9600 or going with a non aiw 9500, 9600, or 9700 and pulling the tvwonder card out of my kids pc. Either way I want to come in around $200.

The AIW 9600 Pro will perform a bit faster than the non-AIW 9600 Pro. Assuming the AIW has the same abilities as the 9600 Pro, then the card will be great for OC'ing, according to Hard OCP, the card will overclock to perform a tiny bit slower than a 9700 Pro.

lol..it takes time my friend..plus ATI has been kinda goin' all over the place with the 9xxx cards..The 9600 is basically a 9500, but easier to clock it IF you are planning to do that, other wise, then 9500 review (If there is one, i haven't noticed).

Yep..... aware that new cards take time to put out.

And what you said is true for the 9600, which can actually be slower than the 9500, BUT the All in Wonder edition has a LOT of new features such as the Remote Wonder 2 and newer versions of the software that makes it interesting to me.

hello friends.
i read all the posts here abt. this aiw9600pro , can any body tell me if it will work on agp2x m'boards , and i rerad that only aiw 9700pro card is using the same core frequency as its original card . so do this aiw 9600 pro will be compromising on 3d grafics.
i bought aiw 9000pro last month but i returned because its grafics were even worse than my old tnt2 card. all my games got slow . i m not a hard core gamer but i was expecting a good all round peformance at the price that i was paying. now i m realy towards this 9600 pro thanx for any reply

I highly doubt that the graphics were worse than your TNT2.

The one thing that you must consider is that it is intended to be used in a 4x AGP slot to take full advantage of the videocard.

In your case, the motherboard just wouldn't allow the card to perform at its full potential.

Oh, and BTW guys, the AIW 9600pro should be arriving within the week.

It will not work in a 2X AGP slot, only 4X.
