So.....i just did a full saftware rebuild on my machine....let me just say....we should NEVER forget to do this. I moved around som much in the last year or so i never really had my machine in any place long enough to sit down a do a full rebuild....regardless of backups.....

anyway.....so i reinstalled the drivers for my joystick and Windows update had updated drivers.....so i dled them naturally.....now i get an error message when i try to load my previously saved profile....saying "the <filename>.dat file has no profile data. No profile was loaded"

Saitek's FAQ says specifially if get this message that the drivers i have are updated....but the programming software (the SST)needs to be updated too, and i can get this from their website.....

...can you guess? ....the wesite doesnt have it........

.....right.....

...*slams head*

Any advice....should i rollback to the drivers (4 of them) on the disk? how can i since it doesnt let me really uninstall the existing ones from the device mngr....

this is the only snag.....*sighs*....i cant get my MW fix tongiht....=[

never mind....

i had to uninstall the drivers windows update added.....manually....seems they dont remove themselves...then the install utility ignores the drivers on the disk since it thinks wondows' are newer...which they are....just not as good....

all is well...=]

*loads MW....salivates*
