I recently decided to secure some of the toys in my van after a buddy had his car broken into (actually it was Hoedizzy's car right out in front of his place). So I wanted to at least make it difficult for the average crackhead smash-and-grab thief. Everything is chained and locked down, except for my cd's- which I haven't figured out what to do with. I might have to look into an mp3 deck so I can take all my cd's out completely.
Subs are bolted to a chain.
Tool chest is also bolted to a chain.
Locked tight- Both the tool chest and subs are covered up with a big pink blanket (incognito camouflage for a minivan)
The eclipse deck needed to be secured as well- made a bracket for that.
I wrapped the chainlinks with black silicone to keep them from making noise. She's locked tight.
And finally, the drill.
At least someone can't just break a window and take off with my crap- _________________ •Asus P5K SE •Q6700 •4GB G.Skill •BFG 512MB GeForce 8800GT

Looks good bro. I like hardware tweaks :) Should have a firecracker hooked up outside the van so IF someone breaks in it sounds like a gun |

Looks good.............a friend of mine did basically the same thing, cable-locked everything, actually tack-welded the amps to the trunk floor. Problem was, when he got broken into again, the thieves just smashed the gear when they couldn't grab it. He had a hell of a time getting his insurance to replace the stuff, since he'd modded it for anti-theft. _________________ Big enough to scare you |

Yeah, if some of my things were to get smashed up in an attempted theft (which is inevitable) I'll at least have the satisfaction of knowing some chithead didn't profit off me. Also, my insurance won't cover anything that wasn't secured/bolted down. _________________ •Asus P5K SE •Q6700 •4GB G.Skill •BFG 512MB GeForce 8800GT

That usually covers stereos, they're screwed into the dash..............if your insurance doesn't, I'd question it. Seems a little odd that an insurer would force you to void your warranties to satisfy their policy requirement. _________________ Big enough to scare you |

Yes, it was my car that was raped....makes you feel used...
Well I have my sub bolted in my trunk, that's about all they didn't get.
Looking good sandness...
Hope it does not happen to anyone else. |

Taking the cover off a car stereo voids the warranty, and if you were to have to drill a hole or two for a locking hasp, you can definitely kiss any service goodbye. _________________ Big enough to scare you |

I wasn't worried about voiding any warranties as my stereo is a couple years old. However, I wanted to lock it down because in a Windstar, it is super easy to steal. The plastic facia pops off, and there are 2 clips on either side of the deck. Easy tool-free removal; too easy. It could get stolen without any damage even.
The hasp is tapped and bolted into the heatsink. Its pretty solid. _________________ •Asus P5K SE •Q6700 •4GB G.Skill •BFG 512MB GeForce 8800GT
