I have been under the consideration of these two chips for quite some time now. And the only difference I can find between them (other than $50 and better memory on the Optie) Is that the Opteron only has 64kb of L1 cache, where the X2 has 128kb. Which would you guys say would perform better. I know the Opteron can OC like crazy, but what difference would that Cache make if any? Thanks

Stang

my vote is for the Optie. As far as I know the optie performs on par or above the X2.

yeah... I know the memory controllers are better, and better silicon than the X2's which is why they overclock like mad.... Not to mention they are MADE to perform that way in an environment that they are ALWAYS Running in. So I guess I shall be looking forward to an Opteron 175 in the VERY near future.

Its no contest. I had the same choice to make. No regrets. OCing, you will love it. Regardless of that, its better silicon, and should last longer due to the more rigorous testing amd does on an optie compare to an x2. I love mine.
