problem with mx70...COMPUTER LOCKING UP

please help me!!
i left my computer on today while i was at work and when i came in it had reset itself,but not fully as there was a disk in the drive.so i took it out and proceded with the logon,then five minutes later the screen just shuts off but the main console was still on.so i switched the computer off at the power and turned it back on again and there was some mal ware which avast had caught and a warning saying windows has encountered a serious error or something.so i sent the error report to windows with no response to the problem,and deleted the mal ware.so i tried to perform a full system scan and it was catching a few mal wares but deleting them,then it switched off again.so i turned it off then on again and it was fine i just using the internet etc and it was ok.then i went to make a dvd copy and half way through and the screen just goes off again but the main console bit was still on again.and i have to turn it on and off losing the dvd copy everytime!!it seems fine using the internet etc,im really baffled!!!!!1

the monitor is a hp pavilion mx70

the main console is a pavilion 7965

please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

shouldn't this go in the adware\spyware viruses section?

download AVG antivirus, spybot, microsoft antispyware and adaware and run them... those should take care of it
