Any of ATI's All-In-Wonder cards support recording, as do most of their stand-alone TV tuner cards. They work pretty much like TiVo, in that they actually play a few seconds behind the actual broadcast, so you can pause, rewind, fast forward and stop live TV.

Hauppauge makes good video capture cards and SnapStream's Beyond Tv software goes right along with those cards for a good combo.

I have Tivo and I love it but a tv tuner on my pc sounds way cooler, and cheaper in the long run. I was wondering if they provided t.v. programming though. Like does it update from the ati site or something? Also, to anyone who's thinking about getting Tivo beware that it may fuzz up your picture. Mine makes it noticeably worse, but I love it too much to get rid of it.

The PVR software needs to be updated manually, through ATI's software. I believe it goes in 14 day increments, so you can't program out farther than that, unless it's a weekly thing at the same time every week. The quality is decent, but I wouldn't call it breathtaking. About the same as TiVO, really. And, don't forget, you'll need a good bit of hard drive to do it with.............if you plan on recording alot, an 80gb HDD isn't going to cut it.

honestly if you are going to do somthing like that get a Hauppauge card and the Snapstream software. That is a very good combo for a PVR.

I have a deditcate 250GB WD drive (And I fill it up about 80% before I encode and compress certain shows) I use the ATI All In Wonder Pro, for its Fuzzieness removing feature. I believe its something soap opera. Its great though. I havent figured out the tv guide, but I really dont need it.
